Mozart’s Requiem, the composer’s last and unfinished work, is one of the most famous musical compositions ever written due to its sublime eloquence, beauty and power. The mystery surrounding its original commissioning, as dramatized in the film Amadeus, continues to intrigue scholars to this day. Robert Levin’s highly acclaimed completion is more a restoration than revision by returning Mozart’s transparent textures while infusing depth to the masterpiece by completing sections left unfinished by Mozart and others. Also on the program is the brilliant and joyous Exultate jubilate, the Sonata in C K329, both from Mozart’s early period, and the exquisite Ave verum, which many consider to be the most beautiful 46 measures of music ever written. Join conductor Scott Dean, soprano Carissa Castaldo, mezzo Melina Pyron, tenor Ben Cleveland and baritone Ryan Bede with the orchestra and chorus of Bellevue Presbyterian Church for an evening of transcendent beauty!
