The bustle around Kemper Development isn't all shoppers looking for after-Christmas sales. It's also work crews, heavy machinery and a tower crane in the construction pit building a 1.5 million-square-foot expansion of Lincoln Square. The project will add a pair of towers rising out of three levels of retail and entertainment space. The 700,000-square-foot office building will be joined by a second tower housing a 245-room hotel and 231 apartments. Across the street, meanwhile, the same developer plans a 500,000-square-foot expansion of Bellevue Square. Together, the two expansions will cost $1.2 billion and add 2 million square feet to what Kemper calls its Bellevue Collection.
